HKU – University of the Arts Utrecht

Highlights from the University of the Arts Utrecht, where I study Music and Technology

Outdreamt (Video Dome) | Year 2

An audiovisual piece composed for a 180 degrees video dome with a multispeaker installation. Both the music and visuals were done by me, and were made simultaneously as to not let one of the two get the upper hand in the creative process.

360 Degrees | Year 2

This binaural soundscape was made to support a collection of 360 degrees photos. This was done during a seminar (a two week course in any subject of your choice) on 360 degree photography.

RobesonGroove Beat | Year 2

This is one of several beats I made for a crate digging project, where we had to pick records from a thrift store and sample them in a number of tracks. Here, I mostly used samples from a Paul Robeson compilation record. It also includes some Dutch rapping.

GoldenGate Beat | Year 2

This is one of several beats I made for a crate digging project, where we had to pick records from a thrift store and sample them in a number of tracks. On this one, I mainly used samples from a Golden Gate Quarter (Gospel) record. Additional vocals were provided.

Saturn Devouring His Son | Year 2

A piece written based on the infamous painting by Francisco de Goya. The goal was to make the listener experience agony and fear, as is shown in the painting

Synthesis | Year 1

This was the final (group) assignment in a synthesis class focused on creating your own samples and morphing them using methods such as granular synthesis. All of our base samples came from an Irish low whistle.

Recursion | Year 1

This was the final assignment in a class focused on using recursion in your composition. This was done using density and adding notes to themes. I also used a motif from a Keaton Henson song as a small homage, since it’s one of my favourites.
